Nurturing Connections,

Embracing Diversity

Welcome to a dedicated space where all forms of relationships are honored, celebrated, and nurtured. I passionately believe that every relationship deserves to thrive, be understood, and be supported with compassion and respect.

About My Approach

My practice is deeply influenced by my dedication to an intersectional feminist and neurodiversity-affirming lens, a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach, a harm reduction philosophy, trauma-informed principles, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and a commitment to embracing diverse relationship dynamics. I also have specialized training in a variety of complementary topics, such as Kabbalah and neurodiversity-informed mindfulness. For more information on what specific trainings I have taken, please see my About page.

So, what does all of that mean?

Understanding and respecting the various intersecting factors of individuals in a relationship is vital for providing inclusive and empathetic support. Through an intersectional feminist and neurodiversity-affirming lens, I acknowledge and appreciate the diverse identities, experiences, and backgrounds that each person brings to the relationship. This lens helps us address the unique challenges and strengths that result from these intersections.

Similarly, Health At Every Size is a weight-neutral approach that aims to make mental healthcare effective for all bodies. HAES promotes justice and inclusion for people regardless of body type or size, respecting personal autonomy and recognizing that health is subjective.

Harm reduction is a philosophy for working with substance use issues that does not require abstinence from the substance(s). The underlying belief of harm reduction is that people will use substances, regardless of whatever abstinence-based approaches are employed, such as criminalizing certain substances. Instead, harm reduction aims to reduce or minimize the harm associated with substance use. This can include things like substance testing at raves and providing access to Narcan to prevent opioid overdoses. In relationship therapy, harm reduction typically looks like working together with the members of the relationship to determine weekly goals regarding substance use so that all members of the relationship are using substances more safely and living a life more aligned with all of your values. These goals can include abstinence, but are not required to.

Recognizing the potential impact of past traumas on relationships, my approach is trauma-informed. I provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals and partners can openly discuss their experiences. We work collaboratively to build trust, safety, and understanding within the relationship, fostering a path toward healing and growth.

ACT is a powerful therapeutic modality that encourages embracing difficult thoughts and feelings rather than struggling against them. We work together to identify and clarify your values in relationship with one another, and develop strategies to help you live a meaningful life in alignment with those values. This approach fosters psychological flexibility and resilience.

Motivational interviewing is a collaborative, person-centered approach focused on eliciting and strengthening motivation for change. In our sessions, we engage in open and non-judgmental conversations to explore your goals, values, and aspirations. I work with you to foster and enhance your intrinsic motivation, empowering you to make meaningful and sustainable life changes together.

Embracing Diversity in Relationships

I am particularly passionate about working with ethically non-monogamous/polyamorous relationships and queer relationships. I embrace the diversity of relationship structures and orientations, offering a non-judgmental and affirming space for individuals and partners to explore and navigate their unique dynamics.
